Agile JumpStart at Work

Has your team implemented Agile, but you’ve experienced issues that have kept you from fully executing it? Have you attempted Agile, but you gave up because you needed help working out a few kinks?

That’s where DCG’s Agile JumpStart comes in! With Agile JumpStart, we become part of your team, helping you to effectively implement Agile. Over time, we step back from our role and allow you to take over, transitioning to a fully functional Agile team.

Does Agile JumpStart work? It does!

I recently worked with a team that was experiencing a rocky start with Agile, so I came in as their mentor and hands-on coach.

During the first part of the engagement, we made a number of process tweaks. For example, the team now uses a physical Scrumban board (with painters tape and colored post-it notes), with each story and its tasks posted for everyone to see. They have placed the story acceptance criteria (a critical but often overlooked part of the definition of a story) in the complete column so the team can reference it as they are working. In addition, remote members of the team can interact via web cams, so everyone on the team is on the same page.

Overall, the team is now very comfortable with Agile and the results have been great. Just three weeks into the project (1.5 iterations), the business announced that the project was at the same place it took them two months to get to last year – a significant difference in time.

Learning about Agile in a seminar or classroom setting is useful, but applying that knowledge is not always as easy – especially when questions come up that you can’t answer. Agile JumpStart gives you the background knowledge and basics of Agile, but also the customized support you need to implement it with your team.

I’ll be attending TesTrek in Toronto, November 5-8, speaking about utilizing Lean and Agile in synergy for optimum team and organizational benefit. If you’re there, please stop by to learn more about Agile JumpStart. If you won’t be at the conference, follow all of our updates on Twitter!

Questions about Agile JumpStart or Agile/Lean in general? Leave a comment and I’ll get back to you!

"It's frustrating that there are so many failed software projects when I know from personal experience that it's possible to do so much better - and we can help."
