Is There a Business Case for Better Estimation

Another month, another new Trusted Advisor report! David Herron, Vice President of Software Performance Management, and I wrote this month’s report, “Is There a Business Case for Better Estimation."

Is There a Business Case for Better Estimation?

Improving software project estimation requires an organization to commit resources to the development and execution of a well-defined software estimating practice. The ROI or value add of an enhanced estimating process may be directly linked to tangible cost savings or there may be savings that are less direct and harder to specify.

This report is intended to provide a value analysis, or business case, for how an effective estimating practice contributes value to the organization in both financial and non-financial terms.

"It's frustrating that there are so many failed software projects when I know from personal experience that it's possible to do so much better - and we can help."
